A Caring and Compassionate Approach to Your Journey with Tinnitus
Innovating Tinnitus Care
Are you tired of tinnitus constantly stealing your focus and peace?
Hi, I'm Bernadett, a Tinnitus Therapist and Audiologist dedicated to helping people create more meaningful lives. As a person with tinnitus myself, I understand the frustration and isolation that constant ringing can bring. Imagine a future where it no longer dictates what you do or how you feel. Picture reclaiming your focus, your joy, and your life, allowing you to fully engage with the people and activities you love.
Without a shift in approach, the limitations on your life can persist, impacting your relationships, work, and overall well-being. At ACTOnTinnitus, I predominantly use the framework of Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), an approach supported by evidence-based research and the experiences of many, which is designed to empower you to achieve a more meaningful life with tinnitus. What you need to know goes beyond just managing symptoms; it is how you can understand and shift the patterns that amplify your distress, and what practical skills you need to regain control.
So, are you ready to reclaim your life from tinnitus? Let's rechart your course! Take the first step on your path and let's chat today!
Why ACTOnTinnitus?
Research consistently highlights the significant role of psychological processes in mediating the impact of tinnitus. At ACTOnTinnitus, you'll find a dedicated commitment to the highest standards of care and a safe space where your individual experience is truly heard and valued.
Personalised Support: Your Tinnitus Journey, Your Way
I understand that your experience with tinnitus is personal. Tinnitus impacts everyone differently and can be debilitating. At ACTOnTinnitus, I craft individualised plans that directly address your specific challenges. This ensures a truly personalised and effective path towards reclaiming your life and wellbeing.
Evidence-Based Therapy: Confidence in the Approach, Hope for Your Future
ACTOnTinnitus relies on scientific evidence, primarily Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT). This method provides effective strategies to make a real difference in how you experience and manage your tinnitus. This strong foundation of evidence-based therapy is combined with compassionate support that accompanies you throughout your journey, delivered with expertise and genuine care.
A Unique Approach: Living Well with Tinnitus
Unlike treatments that try to eliminate the noise, ACTOnTinnitus focuses on understanding your experience of tinnitus in a new way so it reduces the power it has over you. I help you identify what's truly important in your life and guide you to live fully, despite the sounds. By becoming more flexible in how you respond to tinnitus, you can reduce its impact and focus on what brings you joy and meaning.

My Story
I am the founder of ACTOnTinnitus. If you're struggling with tinnitus, you're not alone. My experience of living with tinnitus since 2009 has led to a genuine and empathetic understanding of its impact. My journey to creating this practice has been a deeply personal and professional one. For nearly two decades, working in audiology across New Zealand, Germany, the Cayman Islands, and Hungary, I've witnessed firsthand the challenges that tinnitus brings.
What struck me most was the often limited scope of available therapy, frequently focusing on managing the sound by adaptation (habituation - the neurological process of the brain learning to filter the sound). Yet, the research is clear: the degree of suffering experienced by individuals with tinnitus is influenced not only by the sound itself, but by an individual's psychological response to it. True habituation can be blocked by the very emotions – fear, anxiety, frustration – that tinnitus often ignites.
This realisation, coupled with encouragement from colleagues and friends who recognised my unique perspective, inspired me to create ACTOnTinnitus. Beyond audiology, my qualifications include a BSc in Psychology and an MSc in Positive Psychology (the science of wellbeing and human flourishing) and Coaching (MAPPCP), a distinctive blend that informs a truly comprehensive and unique approach at ACTOnTinnitus.
Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) offers a promising framework for addressing tinnitus-related distress. Beyond traditional psychological principles and the core tenets of ACT, I integrate the empowering principles of positive psychology. This will help you to actively build a more fulfilling and positive life alongside your tinnitus.
